CRIOS Anti Corrosion Technology

Orla Solutions - CRIOS Anti Corrosion Technology

CRIOS - Specialist Application Example

Active Foam Filtration System (AFFS)
The “AFFS” will purge harmful airborne pollutants from cabinet atmospheres without invasively impregnating them with equally deleterious materials, as do volatile pollutant scavenging systems (VPSs) and volatile air conditioning systems (VACs) that have been experimented with in heritage institutions. Orla Solutions (UK) Ltd are delighted to offer this revolutionary product, designed for exhibition cabinets and storage areas.

How It Works
CRIOS is applied to the filtration foam, thus producing the active filtration system. Not only does the foam filter out undesirable particulates from the atmosphere, such as fungal spores and abrasive dust particles, the reactive surfaces within the CRIOS foam interact with airborne chemical pollutants to neutralise them as they pass through, leaving a purged atmosphere inside the cabinet.

Unique Benefits
“AFFS” is not selective in the pollutants it scavenges, such as some systems that have been tried (for example activated carbon filter systems), nor does it simply store the pollutants within its matrix as do zeolyte based systems 1. All pollutants are completely neutralised and the non-valent by-products remain within the foam, where they pose no threat to the contents of the cabinet.

Typical Filtering Times
Typical times for an exhibition cabinet with 1m3 air space are:

    Sulphur Dioxide: 200ppm – 0ppm = 50 minutes
    Ozone: 150ppm – 0ppm = 30 minutes
    Nitrogen Dioxide: 25ppm – 0ppm = 50 minutes
    Formaldehyde: 5ppm – 0.5ppm = 90 minutes
Acid Fog Tests: Acidic – Neutral = 90 minutes
